For the design of this base we were inspired by more fluid lines: a little Art Nouveau mixed with a little Art Deco, mixed with Belgian minimalism…
We decided to hand-cast our PT3 base in aluminum and applied a polished finish.
We do love the sleek result: a fine home-office desk or side-table/console.
Rest your feet on the stretcher and work away…
For the top we selected one single slab of more than a hundred year old teak.
We used to be antique dealers and collected about 200 slabs of the most amazing hardwood and did not have to bring one tree down.
Note that antique slabs are never picture perfect: the surface is not 100% flat – sine we do not use band sanders, and choose to finish all our table by hand, respecting the old surface of the wood. There are traces of usage, some rounded corners by years of manipulation. We restored some cracks and filled in some holes.
We finished the top with many layers of old and left plenty of drying time between layers.
If you look for ‘Character’ in furniture, don’t look further.
This is a one-off table, stamped with our logo and a unique number stamped at the bottom.
